He is revealed to be a great cook , who can make such things as spinach puffs and fondue , and also has a secret recipe for foie gras. He also knows a variety of recipes and kitchen slang, as revealed in first film when he takes over for the chef. He is capable of incredible superhuman athletics, such as running from a school to his house and back in mere seconds, and climbing a mountain while having a seat tied to his body with Yzma riding atop.
Through the animated series, it is learned that Kronk comes from a family of athletic health and fitness advocates. In addition, Kronk is implied to be Jewish ; in the film Kronk's New Groove , he fantasizes about marrying Miss Birdwell in a Jewish ceremony, complete with him stepping on a glass.
Unfortunately, thanks to Kronk's potion mix-up, Kuzco instead turns into a llama. Kronk almost throws Kuzco over a waterfall , but has a change of heart and drops him on Pacha 's cart instead. When he reveals his failure, Kronk then helps Yzma find him. He is shown as a sympathetic character through Yzma's mistreatment of him and his ability to 'speak Squirrel '. Kronk later stars in the spin-off-ish sequel, starting as head chef and owner of a restaurant called Mudka's. He is happy with his new position, rather than his position with Yzma.
However, Yzma eventually tricks him into helping her with a fake 'youth potion' to con money out of elderly villagers. He develops a love interest, named Birdwell, and his father, Papi voiced by John Mahoney is introduced. In the animated television series, Kronk plays the role of hero, villain, sidekick of n either side, or a combination of these roles in varying episodes.
He is Yzma's henchman and also Kuzco's classmate and close friend. Though he frequently helps Yzma with her schemes, he just as often helps Kuzco out of them. As a running gag, he can never remember that Principal Amzy is really Yzma, and as a result, thinks he is in trouble when Yzma calls for him. In the last episode, he tells Yzma how obvious her disguise is, but when asked how long he has known, he replies 'About three episodes back.
In a rather fitting irony of the series' outcome, Kuzco appoints Kronk as his new advisor since he sometimes gives thoughtful, eloquent advice , while Yzma is made Kronk's assistant. Malina is the only major character from that series that has not previously appeared in either The Emperor's New Groove or Kronk's New Groove. She is Kuzco's good friend and love interest. He has a not-so-secret crush on her he often calls her "a hottie hot hottie" or "the hottiest hot hottie in hottie-ville".
Malina is a cheerleader and the school council president who also is very smart. She prints the Academy's news scroll which later leads her to be a reporter of the Kuzconian Times. She is driven to excel almost to the point of having a nervous breakdown if she does not do everything perfectly perfect a prime example of a Type A personality , and has a very moral mindset which the show uses as a foil against Kuzco's slacker life-choices.
Malina also has an incredibly strong sense of winning every contest she enters by any means, which first appeared in the episode "The Emperor's New Tuber" in which Malina was determined to fill all the spots on the Whack-A-Weasel arcade game on the high score board with her name the last person on the list was Yzma. Also, both her devil and angel sides encouraged her to cheat in the potato growing contest despite her angel side was supposed to "tell her not to do it", in which she responded that she was not about to lose her perfect record.
In the second season, Malina shows that she is not as perfect as most people think. For example, she is sometimes headstrong, and shows greed, mentioned by Kuzco in the episode "Gold Fool's". Malina is also very strict and has a serious face referred to as 'The Stare' by Kuzco and Kronk. Malina is also set with a challenge before her: get Kuzco to do the right thing. She tries to reason with him about cheating, being selfish, not thinking of others and superstitions that make no sense.
Malina mentors Kuzco because she wants to help him graduate and learn how to become a good emperor. Malina is the smart side of her group of friends. She always has to show Kuzco the correct decision to take though he rarely listens. Malina seems to know what Kuzco is thinking, as she has commented on what he was saying in his head multiple times.
She is incredibly observant, as she is instantly and accurately able to figure out many of Kuzco's wrongdoings despite not witnessing them herself. She makes me feel safe. Kuzco: Malina gone loco. At the end of the episode, it shows a picture of Kuzco, Malina, Wompy, and Floopy. She makes the comment, "Wow", although she claims it was just acting.
At the end of the episode "Working Girl" after she got fired from Mudkas so Yatta can get re-hired with help from Kuzco she asks him on a date but he can't go because he ate too much food at Mudkas so he can talk to her and ended up having a sick moment. She often also uses Kuzco's crush to get him to do the right thing. It has been proved that Malina likes Kuzco, for example in one episode, she seems to look forward to a date with Kuzco that she had accepted reluctantly; in the episode "The Emperor's New Musical," she admitted that she was beginning to genuinely like him.
In "Everybody Loves Kuzco," after Kuzco was infected with a cutie potion, the two went on an actual date; afterward, she came on to him and got ditched by Kuzco. In "Come Fly With Me," while Kuzco was spying on Malina, she does admit that she has feelings for him, but his personality annoys her at times and is why she helps him to change.
One of those traits was "Smochy Malina" whom Kuzco dates with. At the end she says that she loves Kuzco but he doesn't notice. She in turn uses Kronk. Later in the episode, during an argument between the two, she admits again that she does like Kuzco, much to her own chagrin as she then lowers her head stating "Oh no, I can't believe I just told him that. Also in this episode, she gets jealous when she thinks he has a girlfriend. In the final episode of the series, at the end she goes on a date with Kuzco straight after he is made emperor and happily becomes his girlfriend.

You and I are going out to find him. If he talks, we're through. Now let's move! Yzma : [about the potion they used on Kuzco] Let me see that vial. Yzma : This isn't poison.
This is extract of Kronk : You know, in my defense, your poisons all look alike. You might think about relabeling some of them. Suddenly Kronk jerks awake]. Kronk : The peasant, at the diner! Kronk : He didn't pay his check. Kronk : It's the peasant who I saw leaving the city who disappeared into the crowd with Kuzco in the back of his cart. He must have taken him back to his village, so if we find the village, we find him, and if we find him, we find Kuzco.
Oh, yeah, it's all comin' together. Yzma : What? Kronk : [recoiling] Aah! Yzma : This had better be good! Yzma : Are you talking to that squirrel? Kronk : I was a junior chipmunk, uh, and I had to be versed in all the woodland creatures. Kronk : Please continue. Yzma : [walking away] Why me? Why me? Kronk : Hey, it doesn't always have to be about you. This poor little guy's had it rough.
Seems a talking llama gave him a hard time the other day. Yzma : Oh, a talking llama? Do tell. Kronk : Uh, he doesn't really wanna talk to you. Kronk : [sigh] Hate being in the middle. Kronk : [speaking squirrel] Squeaky, uh, squeak, squeaker, squeakin'.
Yzma : [Believing Kuzco is dead, telling the others in the palace] And so, it is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden departure of our beloved prince, taken from us so tragically on the very eve of his eighteenth birthday. Kronk : [sobbing] Poor little guy. Yzma : His legacy will live in our hearts Kronk : He never had a chance. Yzma : Well, he ain't getting any deader!
Back to work. Yzma : Kronk, the emperor needs his Kronk : Right. Kronk Kuzco : Hey, Kronky, everything okay back there? Kronk : [mixing the drinks together before refilling all the cups] Oh, uh, the drinks were a bit on the, uh Hey, did ya see that sky today? Talk about blue. Yzma : Yes, Kronk. A toast, to the emperor! Long live Kuzco! Kronk : [to Yzma trying to make it sound like he's coughing] Don't drink the wine. Yzma : [handing him a bottle of poison] Take it, Kronk. Oh ho ho! Feel the power.
Kronk : Oh I can feel it. Yzma : Our moment of triumph approaches! Ha ha ha ha ha! When Kronk reveals that he never killed Kuzco and that he is still alive, the two of them set off to find him, with Kronk carrying Yzma on his back in a specially built miniature tent. They search every village surrounding the palace with no success , And Yzma searches for Kuzco in the jungle, where she loses her shoes, is attacked by bees and falls into the mud.
While clean yourself with your scarf Kronk uses his Junior Chipmunk skills to ask Bucky the Squirrel which way the talking llama went, and Bucky points left and chitters. Shortly, after Yzma and Kronk arrive at Mudka's Meat Hut, a small roadside diner where Pacha and Kuzco have coincidentally stopped to eat when their blood sugars getting low and disguised themselves as a married couple after seeing that there are no llamas allowed.
When Pacha overhears Yzma and Kronk talking about their plans to kill Kuzco, he tries to warn Kuzco and get him out of the diner. Kuzco and Yzma both go to the kitchen to request special orders to Kronk who is replacing the previous chef who quit. When Yzma enters again, Pacha stops short and imitates the picture of the diner's icon behind him. However, Kuzco and Yzma narrowly avoid seeing each other.
Ultimately, Pacha distracts Yzma by telling the diner staff that it is her birthday, and he takes Kuzco out just as Yzma is receiving her birthday greetings, to Yzma's displeasure. When Pacha tells Kuzco that Yzma and Kronk are trying to kill him, Kuzco, convinced that Yzma is loyal, does not believe Pacha and falls out with him, believing Pacha's claim to be a plan to save his hilltop from destruction, and then orders Pacha to go.
When Kuzco goes back to Yzma, he overhears the villains discussing their plans to track him down and kill him, as well as the fact his kingdom does not miss him because of his selfish behavior. Kuzco finally realizes Pacha was right and searches frantically for him, but Pacha has already left.
Having lost all hope of ever returning to the palace and regaining his human form, Kuzco resigns himself to the fate of an ordinary llama. That night, Kronk suddenly remembers Pacha's face and links him to Kuzco. The next morning, Kuzco finds Pacha in the llama herd and makes up with him, and then they both go to Pacha's house. They find that Yzma and Kronk are there searching for Kuzco by claiming that they are distant relatives of Pacha.
This gives Kuzco and Pacha a headstart, but Yzma sees them disappearing over the horizon, and a frantic race between Kuzco, Pacha, Yzma, and Kronk ensues, such that Yzma and Kuzco are almost within eyeshot. Kuzco and Pacha use a rope to cross a gorge, and then Kuzco cuts it with his mouth in an attempt to keep the villains at bay.
However, Yzma's transport tent sprouts wings, and she and Kronk begin to sail over the gorge. They seem to have succeeded, but before they get to the other side, they are struck by lightning and then fall into a chasm. Kuzco and Pacha reach the palace, only to find that their pursuers somehow got there first by a method which, humorously, not even they know.
Yzma then orders Kronk to kill the duo after throwing a knife at him, but her henchman once again has a change of heart and after Yzma, upon seeing Kronk talking to himself, berates him on his incompetence and his cooking the latter insult ultimately hurting his feelings , he cuts the rope to a chandelier, but it falls around Yzma instead of on her, and then she sends Kronk down a trapdoor, along with his Shoulder Angel and Devil.
After a brief struggle for the vial, Yzma knocks over the potions cabinet so that Kuzco and Pacha cannot tell which is the antidote, and calls the palace guards to kill the peasant and the talking llama, claiming them to be Kuzco's murderers.
Pacha throws the potions onto the guards, turning them into various animals. After the guard who has turned into a cow is excused, the chase continues as Kuzco tries every potion, transforming into various creatures before transforming back into a llama. They outwit the guards, but Yzma continues to pursue them until they reach the palace roof, and only 2 potions remain for Kuzco to try. Yzma snatches one of them, but it is the wrong potion, and she turns into a cat.
When Kuzco takes the potion, she attacks him. When Pacha tries to help, she scratches him, causing him to fall. Kuzco hits Yzma on the wall, knocking her out. Once Yzma recovers, she quickly snatches the potion away from Kuzco, declaring that she will turn herself back into a human and kill Emperor Kuzco.
She finds that she cannot open the vial, and her frustration makes her fall from the roof; while Kuzco is saving Pacha, the vial also falls. However, both Yzma and the vial return to the roof with the help of a giant trampoline.
Yzma reaches the vial before Kuzco and Pacha and seems to have won until she is knocked out by Kronk, who has just emerged from the other end of the trapdoor. Kuzco turns back into a human and sets out to redeem himself, building Kuzcotopia on the hill next to Pacha's home. Meanwhile, outdoorsman Kronk becomes a scout leader with the help of Bucky, and Yzma, now a cat, is sentenced to the torture of being taught squirrel language by Kronk as a Junior Chipmunk.
In Kronk's New Groove , Yzma returns as the sole antagonist. However, her role is much smaller than in the first film. She appears in one of Kronk's flashbacks, wherein she has somehow returned to human form but still has a cat's tail. During the first half of the film, she sells sewer sludge to the old people, telling them that it is a youth potion, singing the song "Feel Like a Million" and using a reformed Kronk to advertise the product, promising to help him purchase a mansion to impress his father, while the empire elects Yzma as empress her primary goal.
However, Kronk finds out her potion is a fake, and soon the old people chase her down, where she uses a potion to transform herself into a rabbit to prevent them from attacking her. She is then snatched and carried away by a condor. At the end of the movie, in a nest outside the Mudka's restaurant, Yzma witnesses condor chicks being hatched.
Initially finding the moment to be cute, Yzma screams in terror as the chicks instantly become savage-like birds. The show's premise is that Kuzco must attend school and pass all of his classes in order to remain Emperor. If he fails even one class, he will not be able to retake the throne. With the assistance of Kronk, who constantly fails to recognize her until she drops her disguise, she comes up with various schemes most involve potions that transform Kuzco into an animal, similarly to the film in order to make Kuzco fail one of his classes.
Several episodes reveal members of Yzma's family, including her mother Azma who, according to Yzma, nags her incessantly, forcing Yzma to carry out her plots. Yzma also apparently has siblings, as she has two nephews: Zim and Zam. Her father is also briefly mentioned in the song Snuff out the light , in which it is revealed he was the royal mortician and her first mentor in the ways of magic.
A few times, Yzma had come close to claiming the throne. In " The Bride of Kuzco ", when Kuzco has second thoughts of marrying Princess Lalala, instead of telling her "no", he goes to Yzma, agreeing to cede the throne to her for a day in exchange for turning Lalala into a frog. After doing so, Yzma redecorates the palace in time for her mother's arrival, to prove to Azma that she achieved something. She then goes back on her words and was about to imprison Kuzco when Lalala turned back to human, due to Kronk putting extra ingredients in the potion to make it taste better.
With their deal null and void, Kuzco drops Yzma down a trapdoor. In the series' finale " Graduation Groove ", Yzma carries out one final plot to stop Kuzco from graduating. Turning the royal record keeper into a bird and disguising herself as him, she placed doubts in Kuzco's mind about the pressures of leadership and later gave him an everlasting chicken potion.
With her victory all about certain, she fired Kronk. Just as she was finally about to become Empress, Malina and Kronk arrive with chicken-Kuzco to expose Yzma's evil plot. Yzma was quick to deny the use of animal-transformation potions, the royal record keeper appears to support their claims. After everyone gasps in shock, Yzma reminds that Kuzco technically did not graduate as she had his diploma in her hand.
Kronk then threw Kuzco at Yzma before tossing the antidote into his mouth, turning Kuzco human, allowing him to catch both the crown and the diploma. Her plot foiled, Yzma is once again dropped down a trapdoor. During the credits, Yzma was demoted to Kronk's secretary by Kuzco's order.
In House of Mouse , Yzma makes a cameo appearance in the episode " Pluto vs. Figaro ". Some portray her as a minor character not in direct conflict with Kuzco, while others depict her as the main antagonist. After Kuzco was forced to call in sick due to a rasping throat, he assigns Yzma to manage the Kuzcofest, although she secretly intended to change it to Yzmafest, which included depriving the food.
Despite this, however, Kuzco managed to return from his illness and trick Yzma into doing things his way by supplying the banquet to the people. In another comic, she led her team of Llama football against Kuzco's team. Secretly, however, she fed some of her minions extract of llama to ensure they win against Kuzco. Kuzco grows suspicious from the llama's suspicious resemblance to some humans he knew and decided to test his theory by drugging the water cooler with her potion.
It resulted in all of Yzma's team, Yzma included, transforming into llamas in the middle of the game, thus resulting in her being disqualified due to attempted cheating. Yzma is one of the villains who was imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost.
She has a daughter named Yzla and a son named Zevon. Yzma appears in the game as one of the unlockable ten-token heroes despite being a villain. She first appeared in the update for the game along with Gonzo and Madam Mim as new heroes. Her basic attack is to throw potions at the enemy, including flame potions that turn enemies into flames.
During the initial release of the film, Yzma made appearances as a walkaround character but was eventually retired. She returned in and has since made numerous appearances in Disneyland Paris. The park version of Yzma also attended the red carpet premiere of the film alongside her original voice actress Eartha Kitt. In Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom , Yzma makes a deal with fellow villain Hades in the guise of local Underworld god Lazuli to become Empress of Adventureland in exchange for part of the crystal of the Magic Kingdom.
Yzma also plots to turn the villagers into alpacas She orders Kronk to poison the village's food with her potions. Unfortunately for Yzma, Kronk is defeated by the park guests, prompting Yzma to take matters into her own hands and has a magic duel with the guests. Yzma is seemingly defeated, but her stubbornness and desire to rule force her to regain her strength.
